About the role: 
We’re on the lookout for a skilled Network Security Engineer to join our team at Kinetic IT, working in partnership with one of our enterprise customers based in Leederville. This fully dedicated project role is focused on enhancing security across operational technology (OT) environments, including SCADA systems, network segmentation, and governance implementation. This will be a CONTRACT role till end of Jan 2026 with potential for the engagement to be extended for the 2026 Calendar year

You’ll play a key role in the delivery of several workstreams aligned to critical infrastructure cyber uplift, including SCADA firewall remediation, Cisco ISE integration, OT network governance, and Horizon VDI configuration for secure access.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement OT network security governance controls, standards, and supporting documentation.
• Manage firewall rule reviews and remediation activities to improve overall network security posture.
• Support the integration and administration of identity and access controls for OT network assets.
• Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to improve DMZ design and secure data flows between OT and corporate environments.
• Contribute to network segmentation initiatives to enhance security and operational efficiency across regional and enterprise networks.
• Assist in the configuration and deployment of secure remote access solutions for OT and Integrated Operations users.
• Support the configuration and administration of Cisco ISE to improve visibility and access control for OT network assets.
• Configure and support Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Call Manager) environments as part of secure communication and access control initiatives.

If you were here today, you’ll have some of the following:

• Proven experience in network security engineering, preferably within OT/SCADA environments.
• Strong understanding of firewall policy management and network segmentation principles.
• Hands-on experience with technologies such as Cisco ISE, SCADA firewalls, and Horizon VDI.
• Familiarity with DMZ architectures, zoning standards, and OT network governance.
• A structured, delivery-focused mindset and ability to work collaboratively with project and engineering teams.
• Relevant certifications (e.g. Cisco, Palo Alto, or network security-related) are a bonus.
