About The Role
Kinetic IT is looking for a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to join our Strategic Finance team, supporting a complex portfolio across Federal Government, Defence and Emergency Services. Reporting to the Lead Finance Business Partner, you will work closely with stakeholders to turn financial data into clear insights that support decision-making and improve portfolio performance.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong finance experience who is looking to move beyond task-based finance activity, is ready to build their business partnering capability, develop commercial judgement and contribute to a fast-paced, supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities will include:
• Analyse financial performance, trends and key drivers to provide clear insights and recommendations to portfolio stakeholders, including contributing to monthly performance reporting, management commentary and portfolio review processes.
• Prepare and support monthly reporting, including actuals, budget and forecast variance analysis
• Partner with operational and portfolio leaders to understand performance, risks, opportunities and commercial impacts.
• Review utilisation and related operational inputs to support accurate financial outcomes.
• Perform revenue checks, including invoicing, work in progress, deferred revenue and related reconciliations.
• Monitor costs, overheads and spend patterns, highlighting risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Build a strong understanding of business processes, systems and commercial drivers that influence financial performance.
• Support forecasting, scenario modelling and financial planning activities, including updates to Power BI reporting and financial models.
• Leverage AI tools and practices to improve efficiency
• Maintain financial reports, dashboards and underlying data to ensure accuracy, consistency and timely insights.
• Apply critical thinking to identify process improvements, financial risks and opportunities to enhance commercial performance
What you’ll bring to the table:
Ideally using your service based industry experience coupled with your utilisation and people analysis skills:
• 5 years+ working in the finance field with experience in forecasting and future planning
• Demonstrated track record of financial analysis and planning
• Experience working in a complex environment
• Exposure and interest to AI
• Exposure to Dynamics 365, Workday and/or Adaptive Planning is an advantage
• CPA/CIMA/CA certified
• Enthusiasm to learn and grow and the ability to take on a challenge
