About The Role

Kinetic IT has an opportunity for a SQL Database Administrator to join one of our onsite teams delivering managed ICT services to a Federal Government customer.

In this position, you will manage and optimise SQL Server database environments, ensuring their performance, availability and security.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Canberra, working standard business hours. You will also participate in an on-call roster, which may include occasional weekend work.

Key responsibilities include:

• Administering, maintaining and optimising SQL Server databases
• Performing regular database backups, restorations and recovery activities
• Monitoring and tuning database performance
• Proactively identifying and resolving performance issues and bottlenecks
• Developing and maintaining automation scripts to streamline routine database administration
• Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect sensitive data
• Ensuring databases comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Responding to and resolving database-related issues

Keen to get involved? You will need some of the following:

• Active AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance (required for work with our Federal Government customer)
• Proven SQL experience - SQL Server User administration tasks
• Experience in designing and managing maintenance plans and SQL jobs
• Proficiency in performance tuning and optimisation techniques
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
